The gift of love.
It’s Christmas, and my presents
all fit inside a sock.
I’m thrilled to bits to find some nuts,
and apple and a pear.
But wait, what’s this,
another present there?
A little plastic notebook,
real crocodile skin for sure.
I can write out special secrets now,
and post them through the door.
My friend and I are getting old,
we’re eight now don’t you know.
The sisters in the big house,
our love we can now show.
“Corrinne, Stanley loves you”
seemed to be just right.
We crept up to the door,
slipped it through
and ran with fright.
We watched then from a distance,
behind the hawthorn tree.
Stanley tried to push me back.
The thorns all stuck in me.
It made me scream and shout,
as Stanley picked me out.
Then to my despair,
I saw Corrinne standing there.
With her sisters she was laughing
for all her worth at me.
But I didn’t find it funny,
falling back into that tree.
The message from the notebook
served a purpose, that’s for sure.
As after that, we were good friends.
No need to slip notes through the door.
The notebook,
“nothing special”,
I can hear you say.
But without that piece of paper,
we’d have missed a special day.
I might have had a bicycle,
toy cars, or books galore.
But the memory of ‘that little book’
will stay, forever more.
A gift of LOVE was given.
It was all could be afforded.
I took the gift of LOVE with pride,
and So ...... I was rewarded.

The build up to Christmas has begun, and what better
way to beat the last minute rush than avoiding it
altogether? There are some great toys and games based
on films and TV shows available already that are set to be
hugely popular this Christmas.
As with every year, TV and Film franchises are very
popular indeed with young toy fans. This year has yielded
a bumper crop of excellent toys that would make brilliant
Christmas gifts, so let's take a look at a few of the most
popular items for you here.
The biggest movie toy extravaganza this year has been the
second Transformers movie, namely the blockbuster
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. This film brought the
market two of the most popular toys for Christmas 2009,
namely the Movie Leader Optimus Prime figure and the
Bumblebee voice changer helmet.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars merchandise is also going to
be big this year, with the AT-TE, Clone Trooper Voice
Changer helmet and Star Wars Lego coming at the top of
fan's lists.
For younger children there is another great range of TV
and movie toys to get excited about. Younger Transformers
fans have a range of toys that are available for smaller
children, and there are some wonderful toys out based on
Dora the Explorer, Bob The Builder, In The Night Garden,
Peppa Pig, Roary the Racing car and Thomas The Tank
Engine too, all of which will be highly sought after by
youngsters this year.
Harry Potter is back on cinema screens, and again there is a wide range of great items based on the
adventures of the boy wizard. In addition there will be a great amount of interest in the revitalized G.I.
Joe property now that it has become a big screen movie too. Wall-E, High School Musical and Toy Story
toys also remain popular with children this year. The range of toys for Christmas 2009 is better than
ever.
Other big properties on the toy market for Christmas 2009 include toys from the new Star Trek movie,
Doctor Who, Ice Age 3, The Twilight saga and more. Movie and TV toys are big every year, and there
seems to be no stopping them.
This is great for the economy as well as being wonderful for young fans of the best TV shows and films.
Far from stunting their imaginations, tie-in toys can help promote creative play and encourage children
to create their own adventures featuring their favourite characters.
